Thermidorian Reaction

Terror is only justice: prompt, severe and inflexible.

Only the game leader (as measured by the total value of groups in xir coalition) may be accused of microaggressions.

References?

The Thermidorian Reaction was the period of the French Revolution in which the revolution turned against it’s own leaders.  Card text is a quote from Maximillen Robespierre who was executed by guillotine on the 10th of Thermidor, year II.

Rules

When this plot is in effect only the current game leader may be the target of microaggressions.  The game leader is determined by total number of followers, not including followers currently disabled.  Thus the position of leader may change several times before the Reaction is finally over.

In the event of a tie, all players tied for first place are considered the leaders.

Virtue Signals may ignore alignment.

References?

Card text taken from Good Morning Starshine, by Oliver.  “Boomshanka” is a reference to The Young Ones S02e02 – Cash.  It translates to “May the seed of your loins be fruitful in the belly of your woman,” and is the recommended way to conclude a letter to one’s fascist bully boy bank manager.

Rules

Additionally this plot makes the Venerable Elder immune to microaggressions.

Vicious Cycle

This, my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red.

Any player holding microaggression card(s) on xir turn must play it(them.)

References?

Card text is taken from Macbeth Act 2 Scene 2. “No, this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red.” Macbeth means that there is not enough water in the sea to cleanse his hands, but instead the blood on them will stain the ocean red.

Rules

While this plot is in play any player who holds a microaggression card must play it on xir turn.  In the event that there are no viable targets in the coalitions of other players, the player must target xirself.  If there are no viable targets in any coalition or if the player does not hold a microaggression card the player may play normally.  If you are the Antifa Crusader you must play all the microaggression cards in your hand on your turn (in accordance with the rules stated above.)

Paper Hearts

I’m exhausted from trying to be stronger than I feel.  I am overwhelmed to the point that even small tasks make me feel like breaking down and crying.  Existence is just too much for me now.

Safe spaces have no effect.

References?

Paper Hearts is the name of the 10th episode of the 4th season of The X Files.  How this was broadcast on network TV I have no idea.

S.C.U.M.

Terror is only justice: prompt, severe and inflexible.

Men have ruined the world and it is up to women to fix everything.  The first step on the road to utopia is the complete eradication of the male sex.

The name S.C.U.M. and the card text refer to the radical 1960s feminist group Society for Cutting Up Men founded by professional crazy person Valerie Solanas.

Summer of Love

Orange popsicles and lemonade!  The world is engulfed in a wet miasma of hormones, heat and hemp smoke.  Even if it occurred to you to show up to work you probably couldn’t summon the willpower.

Job cards do nothing.

References?

Card title and “orange popsicles and lemonade” are references to the B-52’s song Summer of Love.  Card art is the original 1969 Woodstock event poster.

Rules

Job cards already in play also become nullified. This plot makes the Venerable Elder immune to microaggressions.

Race to the Bottom

The left is in a state of civil war.  All long-term considerations are forgotten as all factions lash out blindly trying to take pieces out of each other.

All successful microaggression accusations remove one end-of-chain follower from the target’s coalition.

References?

Angery meme.

Rules

While Race to the Bottom is in play any microaggression card that targets an end-of-chain follower destroys that follower.  Discard both the follower and the microaggression card.  If you are Miss Problem Glasses you may destroy two.  The two attacks are considered to have occurred sequentially.
